I have devoted tens of thousands of hours to better understanding dogs, competing with dogs and continued education of the most current methods. Kentucky Canine Coach’s board and train system allows your puppy to spend time as the trainer’s dog. Our Kennel is also our home. For us, dog training and behavior modification is a family passion, and your puppy will receive daily training, walks, spending time with family and adventures like hiking while your away.

The training your puppy will receive is effective, kind, and easy to customize for your induvial goals. My program is gentle, fun, and highly effective for all breeds.

Frequently asked questions

Can you see your dog while they are boarding with us? Yes, we do daily outings except on Saturdays that you can join us for.

Do you accept puppies? Yes, unlike many programs we don’t make owners wait until they are 6 months old because we feel this allows them to learn bad habits and causes them to miss their socialization window. We do the house training, crate training, socialization, manners training and chew toy training and offer a special package just for puppies.

Where will my dog be staying? Your dog won’t be staying in a kennel facility. They will be staying in the trainer’s home during the board and train. Which means we see the problems you live with in real time.

What will my dog’s day look like? Your dog will wake up and go out for a potty break then be fed breakfast and taken for either an hour hike or an hour structured walk, your dog will recieve small training sessions throughout the day and in early afternoon or evening your dog will go on an hour long training outing. Dogs will sometimes attend group training classes while boarding in addition to this for more exposure.

I want to make sure my dog listens to me also, will this be the case? We generalize our training to other handlers mostly me and my husband. We also send owners videos of their dogs during the training where I instruct them as if they were there so they can learn alongside their dog. After training is complete, we do transfer sessions to insure the training sticks.

Who should consider board and Trains

People who are busy: For early puppy socialization and training it is typically best that an owner spends an hour or two a day in small windows of time chew toys training, obedience training, socializing and manners training. For adult dogs it’s closer to 30 minutes daily because there is less focus on socialization. In addition there should be an hour lesson each week. If you can’t commit to that or are already feeling overwhelmed with running kids to sports, work projects or travel or other plans a board and train takes much of that off your plate.

Early Puppy Training: House training, basic obedience training, socialization and the puppy biting it can get overwhelming fast. If you are feeling overwhelmed by your puppy than that’s a definite sign you could use a break.

Life Changes: People who are having life changes like expecting a new baby or moving. Instead of being overwhelmed by trying to fit in training with a new baby or big move with a board and train you can pick up your dog with a new set of skills and better manners. This not only doesn’t add to the stress, but encourages positive feelings with a fresh start from your dog.

Big Problems: They are also great for owners who are feeling overwhelmed by a major behavior issues like aggression; because they give the owner a head start in training. If the dog has had a few weeks of solid practice of obedience skills under their belt it will be much easier for the owner to be able to successfully implement the behavior modification program.

Non-Resolving Problems: If you have been struggling with a behavior issue and you have been practicing all the exercises your trainer sends you home with and your still not seeing results it might be worth asking about a board and train to give you a boost.
